(since the thread is locked now apparently)

For the anime being put in the traditional area....

If the image is done in a traditional medium (oils, pastels, watercolors, chalk, sculpture, ect.) it can be posted in the traditional area.

By traditional, I think it's more along the lines of the medium used, not just the subject or concept.

yea i guess i had a different view of the classifications.....i sorta wish it was by subject matter....because a lot of the time when i am searching for inspiration in traditional, i keep stumbling upon loads and loads of anime.

Anime is pretty rampant on this site, but I try not to let it bother me too much. Anime is where I kinda got my start and it still shows up in my work.

One thing I always encourage people who don't like anime to remember is that it is still inspiring younger people to test out their artistic abilities which is wonderful. Ones who really want to improve will, and others who get stuck only get stuck because of their own shortcomings.

Also, that is still just a style/movement, just like Western Style comics or Cubism. Some people like it, some hate it, but it doesn't make it any less of an art form.

Have you tried other websites for inspiration? Like Conceptart.org?

Matt!! Of course I recognized you. I like your sketches, they remind me of Max's work and he was like my idol of all the TA's at Ringling lol. When I ran out of room in my old sketchbook I searched high and low for one of those toned paper ones, but couldn't find one. Oh well. I may tone some of the pages myself.

Keep up the great work and whenever I'm back down in FL I will have to meet up with all my Ringling buddies
